Quranic Verses that Prove Islam is a Religion of Peace

Islam is a religion of peace, according to the Holy Book Quran, Islam teaches love and compassion for every human being, no matter their religion. The word “Islam” is derived from the word meaning “peace” in Arabic, it seems quite unnatural that a religion that names itself peace can teach or preach something that is violent or full of aggression. Islam is a religion revealed to mankind with the intention of presenting a peaceful life. Almighty Allah calls all people to live by the moral values He sets so that compassion, mercy, peace, and love can be experienced all over the world.

In the Noble Quran Allah (SWT) says: “O You who believe! Enter absolutely into peace (Islam). Do not follow in the footsteps of Shaitan. He is an outright enemy to you.” (Quran, 2: 208)

Nowadays due to some people, Islam has been getting an extremely bad reputation across the world and Muslims have had to face some major hate because of it. People feel it is okay to blame the religion and its teachings and ruin the reputation of Islam. However, religion Islam and the Quran promotes peace. Allah (SWT) mentioned in the Holy Quran: “Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors.” (Quran, 2:190)

No one should be forced or compelled to believe in the religion Islam or to live by Islamic morals. Conveying the existence of Allah (SWT) and the morals of the Quran to other people is a duty for believers, but they call people to the right path that is towards the path of Almighty Allah with kindness and love but they never force them. In the Holy Quran, it is stated that: “There is no compulsion where the religion is concerned.” (Quran, 2:256)

A perfect Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands mankind is safe. In Islam, the right to life is an absolute value, In Quran Allah Almighty mentioned that: “He who kills a soul unless it be (in legal punishment) for murder or for causing disorder and corruption on the earth will be as if he had killed all humankind, and he who saves a life will be as if he had saved the lives of all humankind.” (Quran 5:32)

Islamic teachings are based on the principles of peace and avoidance. Any disparity from the model is a disparity between Islam and is due to misinterpretation. We should, therefore, understand the ideology of peace given in Islam and our actions should base upon this ideology so that peace will overrule in the world.

Religion Islam teaches about doing good to even your bitter enemies, it stresses upon forgiving others. Allah says in the Holy Quran, “And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.” – (Quran, 2:195)
