Significance, Blessings, and Events of the Blessed Month of Rabi ul Awal

The blessed month of Rabi ul Awal is the 3rd Islamic month in which Muslims are blessed with the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born on the 12th of Rabi ul Awal. The month of Rabi ul Awal got significance due to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), there is no doubt that Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the great blessing of Almighty Allah to the whole world that’s why Muslims celebrate this holy month worldwide. Every Muslim celebrate this holy month with full of Islamic spirits. People lighten up mosques their houses, streets, and parks. Many people organize Milad in their houses to show their love for our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

12th Rabi Ul Awal

The month of Rabi ul Awal reminds Muslims that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a blessing for the whole universe, so they should also behave with others like Him. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the only one who gave equality and the rights of women. Allah Almighty says in the Quran about His beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW): “Verily, in the Messenger of Allah, you have a good example for him who looks to Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.” (Quran, 33: 21)

Events in the month of Rabi ul Awal

There are many events that occurred in the blessed month of Rabi ul Awal.

  • The birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the last Messenger of Allah Almighty to whom the Quran was revealed.
  • The Hijrah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), when He (PBUH) emigrated from Makkah to Madinah.
  • Hazrat Abu Talib (RA) the uncle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) died on 28th of Rabi ul Awal.
  • Hazrat Abdul Muttalib (RA) the grandfather of Holy Prophet (SAW) died on the 10th of Rabi ul Awal.
  • The death of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), on 12thof Rabi ul Awal in the eleventh year of Islam.
  • Holy Prophet (SAW) got married to Hazrat Khadija (RA) on the 10th of Rabi ul Awal.

The best way to love and respect the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is to act like His Sunnah and not to contradict it, as the Quran says: Say (O Muhammad): If you truly love Allah, then follow me, and Allah will love you and forgive you your sins (Quran, 3:31). The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is reported as saying: Whoever revives my Sunnah loves me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise (Tirmidhi). Hence there is a great need to revive the Prophets Sunnah in this age of decadence, there are great rewards and blessings promised for people who revive the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
