Six Basic Beliefs of Muslims in Islam

Muslims are the ones who are followers of Allah. They have belief in Islam so they worship Allah and confess that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the last Prophet of Allah. As Islam is the religion of faith and it is one of the fastest growing religions in the world. With the passage of time, the numbers of believers of this religion are increasing tremendously.

Religion Islam teaches the importance of both belief and practice; one is insufficient without the other. Every Muslim should have a firm belief in basic fundamentals of Islam. Without these fundamentals, the faith of a Muslim is rather compromised. Islam is a monotheistic faith centered around belief in the one God (Allah). Islam is an Arabic word which means “submission, commitment and peace.” Thus, Islam can be defined as a path to attain complete peace through voluntary submission to the divine will. 

The basis of any Muslim starts with the firm belief in the oneness of Allah SWT. Allah is the alone Almighty, creator, and sustainer of every living thing in this Universe. He has no father nor He is a father to any, no one has created Him. His creatures depend on Him for all they need.

6 Major Beliefs Of Muslims

Muslims have Six Basic Beliefs as, laid out in the Quran and Hadith:

  • Belief in the Oneness of Allah Almighty: Muslims believe that Allah SWT is the creator of all things, and that Allah is all-powerful and all-knowing. Almighty Allah has no offspring, no race, no gender, no body, and is unaffected by the characteristics of human life. As Said in Quran: “Say: He, Allah, is One.” (Quran, 112:1). And He says: Say: “He is only one God, and surely I am clear of that which you set up (with Him).” (Quran, 6:19)
  • Belief in Angels: Muslims believe in angels, unseen beings who worship Allah and carry out His orders throughout the universe.
  • Belief in the Books of Allah Almighty: Muslims believe that Allah revealed Holy Books to a number of His Messengers. These include the Quran, the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, and the Scrolls. Muslims believe that these earlier scriptures in their original form were divinely revealed, but that only the Quran remains as it was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
  • Belief in the Prophets or Messengers of Allah SWT: Muslims believe that Allah’s guidance has been revealed to humankind through Messengers, or Prophets, throughout history beginning with the first man, Adam, who is considered the very first Prophet. Twenty-five of these prophets are mentioned by name in the Quran, including Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Muslims believe that Muhammad (SAW) is the last Prophet of Allah SWT sent for all humankind with the message of Islam.
  • Belief in the Day of Judgment:  Muslims believe that on the Day of Judgment, humans will be judged for their actions in this life; those who followed Allah’s guidance will be rewarded with paradise; those who rejected His guidance will be punished with hell.
  • Belief in the Divine Decree: Everything in this universe and beyond is pre-determined by Allah Almighty. From the first breath we take to the last one, it is all designed by our Creator. Whatever the decisions we make, our livelihood, our intelligence, the length of being in this world is already determined by Allah SWT.
