How To Gain Salvation & Recover from a State of Annihilation

According to the Islamic conviction, a man is born without any sins, for God`s creation is pure and without any spoil. We Muslims know that Allah SWT has given Satan freedom till the Day of Judgment so that there can be distinction among true believers and ignorant ones. Although every individual has goodness in itself from beginning, but it can come under the harmful influence of Iblees (the Wicked One) and commit mistakes. Adam and Hawa (Eve) had liberty to enjoy bounties of the Jannah (paradise), and were forbidden to go near a particular tree. But they were diverted by the Demon, and they went near that tree, so they were sent down to earth, which shows that humans are not safe from the attack of the Lucifer.

Since, goodness is present in the nature of a man, no matter how much one commits evils and wrongdoings, one day it realizes its errors and seeks morality, even having a trace of insight left in it. The word “salvation” generally means to rescue from a state of annihilation, obscurity or malevolence. The religious interpretation of it is to set free from sins and its damaging effects. While other religions especially Budhism considers way of recoup from evil is by renouncing the world. On the other hand, Islam stresses on taking worldly life as a constant struggle, use things positively and avoid mischief to retrieve decency. The present form of Christianity takes man as impure from birth due to sin of Adam, when actually it is made solely through chaste soul by Allah Almighty.

“And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration.” [Quran, 15: 29]

God, the Exalted says in this verse about making of Adam from His created soul, which means it is flawless as there is only Goodness with Allah. That is why a true believer always repents on its offenses and looks for purification of heart and soul to go back to its natural state.

“And fear the Fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers.” [Quran, 3: 131]

So, to become a true disciple of the religion of peace, and attain salvage from all kinds of crimes, one should constantly keep in mind the torment of hellfire in the hereafter.

Being Aware of Angels Presence

Every true Muslim knows that God has appointed two angels, one on right shoulder of a person, another on the left, and they continuously record everything we do. The Holy Quran describes it in the following way:

“When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left. Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].” [Quran, 50: 17, 18]

So, one should be mindful of doing every act, like in speech, where we normally are inclined towards speaking ill about others, e.g., backbiting, making fun of others by calling them with nicknames, lying etc. And such small deeds jumble up to give rise to bigger sins in the future. So, while being aware of the angels taking notes of our actions, one can achieve salvation and gain morality.

In short, making mistakes is a part of human life. A sin is not a sin until it becomes habitual, avoidable, and person having knowledge about it. And the salvation from such evils can only be attained with the Help of Allah SWT and consciousness of His teachings. May the Almighty give us will and desire to seek salvation from wrongdoings in our lives. Aameen!
