Islam Is The Middle Way

People have this perception that practicing Islam is very difficult because it is restrictive; however, the reality is that it is a very balanced way of living. One thing we need to understand that people only perceive that Islam is restrictive and perception is not reality rather perception becomes reality for someone on an individual basis. For instance, if someone starts perceiving that the sun comes out from the west, his perception would not change the reality. Similarly, if people perceive that Islam is restrictive, it doesn’t make it restrictive in a real sense.

Allah (SWT) is the creator of all the humans and Allah has created all the humans with Fitrah (a natural state), Surah Al Tin of Quran talks about it that Allah has made all the humans with a natural state. As they are created with Fitrah, Islam recognizes the needs of the humans such as food, shelter, a desire for sex and love, the social needs etc.

Islam is a religion that addresses the humans’ needs which are natural and it has set parameters to fulfill them, for instance, food is our need, we can earn it but can’t steal it, similarly, sex is our need, we can do Nikkah (Marriage) but can’t put ourselves into adultery.  Allah Ta’ala says in the Holy Quran: “These are the limits (set) by Allah, so do not approach them”

Some people say that Islam is so restrictive that we find ourselves in a deadlock when it comes to practicing it.  Allah (SWT) has made it so simple that whoever repents and promise that he/she won’t breach the orders of Allah (SWT) again, Allah (SWT) forgives them.  What more leverage and ease a religion could provide to its followers. May Allah (SWT) guide us to Jannah. (Ameen).
