Virtues of Friday- Hadiths about the Day of Jummah

The literal meaning of Friday is congregation or gathering of people for special Jummah prayer. Friday is the sixth day of Islamic week. In Islam, Friday has given special importance. Every Friday, a prayer of Jummah offer and for this prayer special time is appropriated. The Messenger of Allah Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: “The best day the sun rises over is Friday; on it Allah created Adam. On it, he was made to enter paradise, on it he was expelled from it, and the Last Hour will take place on no other day than Friday.”(At-Tirmidhi)

Friday is more demanding and more worthwhile than other days of the week. Friday is the day on which Muslims gather to pray in congregation. It is an honored day that has been assigned all things considered by Allah Almighty; no other day of the week shares its supremacy. The day of Jummah is the Mother of all days and the most righteous and best of the days. That is the reason believers wait for it with so much devotion. It is a day loaded with kindness. It is a time when Muslims meet up to respect the just a single Lord, discover quality and show condolence by standing shoulder to bear and reaffirming their confidence and commitment to Him.

Prophet’s (PBUH) Hadiths about the Day of Jummah

Here are some Hadiths about the importance of Jummah which are mentioned below:

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) described the virtues of Jummah prayer in the following hadith with these words: “When the Friday comes, at every door of the Masjid there stands Angels who write down (the names of) those who come First, and then who comes next. When the Imam sits down, the records are closed and they come to listen to the reminder, i.e. the Khutba….”  (Muslim)

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Of all the days, Friday is the most virtuous. It is on this day that the trumpet will be blown. Send abundant durood upon me on Fridays because they are presented to me on that day. ” The Sahabah asked: “O Prophet Muhammad (SAW)! How will they be presented to you when even your bones will not be present after your death?” Prophet (PBUH) replied: “Allah (SWT)has made the earth haraam upon the prophets forever. ” (Abu Daud)

Giving charity during this day is more righteous than any other day. Ka’b, May Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger (SAW) said: “Charity given during the day of Jummah is greater (in reward) than any other day.”

It is a day on which sins are forgiven, as narrated by Salmaan, may Allah be pleased with him, who narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “Any man who performs Ghusl on Friday, perfumes himself if he has perfume, wears the best of his clothes, then goes to the mosque and offers as many prayers as he wishes while not harming anybody, then listens quietly while the Imam speaks until he offers the prayer, will have all his sins between that Friday and the next forgiven.” (Al-Bukhari)

Dying on Friday, during the day or night, is a sign of a good end, for the one who dies on that day will be protected from the trial of the grave. The Prophet (SAW) said: “Any Muslim who dies during the day or night of Friday will be protected by Allah from the trial of the grave.” (At-Tirmidhi)

The day of Jummah includes an hour during which all supplications are accepted. Prophet (SAW) said: “On (the day of) Jummah is an hour during which Allah gives to a Muslim servant standing in prayer whatever he asks for.” (Al Bukhari)

Prophet (SAW) stated that: “The best day in the sight of Allah Almighty is Friday, the day of the congregation” (Al-Bukhari).
