Happiness Is In Remembrance Of Allah

It is very common among humans that one always remembers those in mind and cares about them whom it loves. For example, a mother always worries about its children’s` well being and is comforted every time she looks at them being in a good state. Likewise, the Creator of the universe also likes to see His servants succeed and be in console. That is why Allah SWT has repeatedly sent His Prophets in different nations to make them aware of His commandments so that they could benefit from them. The basic teaching has always been to worship only One God alone and not to make partners with Him.

remembrance of Allah

“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.” [Quran, 51: 56]

feeling of happiness

It means that the sole purpose of creation of humanity is to keep the Almighty Lord in constant memory and adore His Name. Since the Gracious God only likes to see the believers succeed both in this world and the hereafter, worshipping Him is also only for their own benefit. As Allah SWT says in the Holy Quran:

happiness in allah remembrance

“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.” [Quran, 13: 28]

The above mentioned Ayah Kareema clearly indicates that all the modes of devotion towards the Exalted One are great means of achieving peace and tranquility of mind and soul. It also shows that the assurance of heart is actually the eternal feeling of happiness which keeps the rightful disciples of Islam clam and steady throughout their lives.

Increase in Faith of Believers

Among a few signs of true devotees of the Religion of Peace is that whenever they hear the Name of the Most Merciful, their souls get enlightened, their conviction is augmented and they feel nearer to their Lord. Allah SWT has mentioned such state of the believers in His Sacred Book as:

worship allah

“The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely.” [Quran, 8: 2]

These Quranic lines verify that the proper adherents of Islam know about the great importance of consistency of belief. Their hearts tremble whenever they listen to Quran recitation leading to strengthening of Iman (Faith) and they always keep their trust in the matters of their Lord. Since every action of God`s servants is dependent on their devotion, and memory of His Name leads to increase in faith, it means that this serves as the eventual source of happiness for the believers as it will lead to their success on the Day of Judgment.

Taking Help from Quran and Prayers

The Holy Quran is the Final Heavenly Manuscript of Allah SWT that He revealed upon His Last Messenger, Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ. It contains all the adequate instructions which are necessary for one`s success in both worlds. It lets the readers know about every aspect of life besides religious obligations and their importance. Daily prayers are another great means of achieving closeness to the Almighty Lord and acceptance of supplications. The Most Beneficent says:

feeling of happiness

“Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.” [Quran, 29: 45]

Since instructions present in Quran Majeed is a constant reminder of Allah SWT and His directions, therefore, its recitation and listening do benefit in commemoration of the Almighty Lord. Salah is another way of remembering the Greatness of God as it is the direct source of communication with Him leading to being in close proximity with Him. These two highly revered actions of virtue ultimately remembrance of the Most Gracious which in turn is the way forward towards attaining pleasure of heart and soul.

Forgiveness of Sins Through Supplications

Every sound minded person knows about its dependence on the Authority of Allah SWT and ask Him for granting out of His blessings every time. Especially in case of pardoning of the past wrongdoings, the believers always turn towards the Most Merciful for clemency in this matter. Anas (R.A) reported the Holy Prophet ﷺ saying as:

“Allah the Almighty said: ‘O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.’” (Tirmidhi)

This previously stated Hadith signifies the tremendous merit of supplicating to Allah SWT for forgiveness of sins, as He always listens to His servants` plea and forgives their transgressions no matter how big they are in magnitude. As true disciples of Islam always worry about their failings in their conviction, therefore, when they will come to know about their exoneration in the hereafter, it will be a moment of great joy for them which is only made possible through recalling God` s Name in prayers.

Remembrance Being Two Way Process

It is widely known that Allah SWT loves His servants nearly as 70 times as that of a mother does to her children. That is why when a believer calls His Name, He always responds to its entreaty.

remember me 2_152

“So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.” [Quran, 2: 152]

It means that memory of the Almighty Lord is not a unilateral process rather He listens to His devotees` request and give them happiness of hearts. The Holy Prophet ﷺ is narrated to have said:

“Allah the Most High said, ‘I am as My servant thinks (expects) I am. I am with him when he mentions Me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to Myself; and if he mentions Me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly greater than it. If he draws near to Me a hand’s length, I draw near to him an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.’” (Bukhari)

The above mentioned Hadith shows that the response of the Gracious God is greater in intensity as compared to the believers. And whom Allah grants with His remembrance, it will definitely result in ultimate contentment of one`s soul.

In short, remembrance of Allah SWT is indeed the best source of attaining happiness of heart and spirit as it draws one near to Him, increases faith, causes pardoning of sins and acceptance of prayers.
